The Department of Management Technology offers undergraduate (Bachelor of Technology, B. Tech) and postgraduate programmes (PhD, MSc, MBA, PGD) in Management Technology.

Candidates must have five (5) O/L credit passes in not more than two sittings in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and either Economics, Agric. Science or Biology from any of the approved public examinations bodies.

JAMB SUBJECTS AND COMBINATIONS

4. Chemistry

HSC/GCE ‘A’ level passes in any three of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Economics at not more than two sittings. Credit passes must be in line with the basic minimum requirements at the ordinary level.

FIRST DEGREE

First-degree holder in other relevant disciplines.

1. English language
2. Mathematics
3. Physics
4. Chemistry
5. Any other science subject

OND

OND holders with preferably Upper Credit in relevant areas are eligible for admission into year two in addition to fulfilling the O/L requirements as stated above.

HND

HND holders with preferably Upper Credit in the relevant area are eligible for admission into year three in addition to fulfilling the O/L requirements as stated above.

Organizations use different forms of technologies for their businesses which have basic and critical effects on their nature, design and structure. In an organization, departments and divisions are developed around the equipment used whether it is for production, communication, information or control. The scope of technology that an organization can adopt or employ is vast, ranging from something simple, such as buying a personal computer with a word processor, to investing in the latest state-of-the-art computer-aided manufacturing machinery.

The B. Tech. (Mgt. Tech.) prepares the student for employment in any sector of the economy especially:

1. Multinational Companies:  Multinational companies engage in producing and selling goods or services in more than one country. The dynamics of international business created a great need for the evolution of multinational organizations. They include oil companies, oil servicing companies, IT companies, construction companies and financial institutions, among others.
2. Public Utility Companies:  Utility companies include all companies providing specific utility services such as energy, telecommunications, water and waste services among others. Utility managers face the challenges of increasing populations and uncertain environmental challenges. It is during these periods that the efficiency of the manager, staff, and equipment are put to test. Utility managers work with other officials to ensure that there are enough resources for everyone to use. They also collaborate with both public and private organizations during emergency situations and natural disasters. Management technology graduates will be trained to face these challenges
3. International Organizations:  Graduates of B.Tech. (Mgt. Tech.) The programme can also find employment in international organisations such as UNICEF, UNDP, WHO, UNESCO, World Bank, IMF etc.
4. Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies:  These are government establishments charged with specific responsibilities at the federal, state and local councils for efficient and effective service delivery. Public sector activities are rapidly expanding and therefore, ministries, departments and agencies require well-trained creative, innovative and talented managers. Management Technology graduates are needed to transform the public sector organizations.
5. Large, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises:  Few businesses can survive without cutting-edge technology. Management technology will help business owners to keep up with innovative products on the market to remain competitive. They must learn how to operate computers and business software to keep track of orders and invoices, load new software and install upgrades; have network computers and link them to multiple branch network. Bigger, more complex companies demand new tools to run and manage them. Indeed, improved technology and statistical-control tools have given rise to new management approaches that make even mega-institutions viable. Today’s business leaders are using highly sophisticated software to run their organizations.
6. Self-employment:  Self-employed people generally find their own work rather than being provided with work by an employer. Self-employment occurs across a wide segment of the world economy. Management Technology graduates who have an interest in self-employment will easily run their businesses.
