Director's Welcome Address
The University Computer Centre (UCC) is shouldered with the responsibility of conducting regular cutting-edge Information Technology (IT) training and Workshops as well as provision of secretarial services such as typesetting and photocopying at a subsidized rate. It also manages small business activities (such as selling snacks and stationaries). The centre also provides hands-on practical support for the departments on Information Technology related courses as well as renders services to students of FUTO International Staff School Owerri (FISO) on computer-related subjects. It provides self-empowerment and self-enhancement executive training on all aspect of information technology to industries and corporate bodies.

Historical Background of the Centre

The University Computer Centre (UCC) is a central computing facility that supports teaching, research, consultancy/commercial services and administrative activities of all units in the University.

The FUTO University Computer Centre (UCC) was established in 1982, with Prof. Amah Nduka as Director. The Centre started then as a Computer laboratory attached to the then School of Natural and Applied Sciences. The operations of the Laboratory were under the control and supervision of the Director of Physical Science programmes in the School. Following the progressive growth of the University, the laboratory was transformed into a central unit called Computer Centre in 1989 with Prof E. Umez-Eronini as its first Director.
