Biography
Professor Israel Chukwuemeka Ndukwe was born to the royal family of Late Nze Michael Iheanacho Ndukwe (Aguoha 1, Okangoziri) and Late Lolo Sabinah Nwabaka Ndukwe of Umuwaoma, Umuokpo Amumara in Ezinihitte-Mbaise L.G.A of Imo State, on 14th July 1954. His primary education was at St. John’s Primary School Amumara. He had his secondary education at Ife Grammer School, Ife Ezinihitte-Mbaise where he obtained his WASC (DIVISION ONE) in 1971, and Government Secondary School, Afikpo where he got his G.C.E in 1973. In 1975 he gained merit admission to study Physics in the University of Nigeria Nsukka where he obtained his B.Sc (2ND CLASS UPPER) in 1979. He also got his M.Sc and PhD from the University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1986 and 1992, respectively.
He worked at Federal Civil Aviation Authority (FCAA) between 1980 and 1984 as Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO) II, ATCO I, and FCAA. He was then employed as an Assistant Lecturer at Imo State University (now Abia State University), Uturu in 1985. He joined FUTO as a Lecturer I in 1994 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Solid State Physics and Materials Science in 2008. He has served the University in many capacities including as Coordinator, Science Laboratory Technology Training Programme (2004-2006); Coordinator, Pre-Degree Unit (2006-2008), Head, Department of Physics (2010-2011); University Admission Officer (2011-2016); Member, 10th Governing Council (2013-2017); Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration (2016-2018); and Member, 11th Governing Council (2017-2018). He is currently the Director of FUTO’s Centre for Energy and Power System Research.
Professor Ndukwe has served as Internal and External Examiner in many institutions and as Internal and External Professorial Accessor several times. He has published profusely in local and international High Impact Journals, and also reviewed many articles.
He is a Knight of St. Christopher (KSC), a Justice of Peace (JP), and a recognized titled Chief of his Town, Amumara (Jesus Wu Eze), in addition to several other awards and recognitions in the church and community.
Professor Israel Chukwuemeka Ndukwe is a wonderful family man married to pretty Lady Clementina Chiemeka Ndukwe (Nneoma) and the family is blessed with four (4) wonderful children – three (3) male and one (1) female.
