Biography

Cosmas Ahamefula Ahiarakwem is a Professor of Geology in the Department of Geology, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria.

He attended Boys’ Secondary School, Ekwerazu, Imo State, Nigeria, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria and Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria where he bagged his school leaving, first and second degrees and PhD. respectively.

Professor Cosmas has taught in the University for Over 19 years

His areas of specialization are Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology. He has research works in Hydrogeochemistry and Environmental Geology as well as Geotechnical studies.

He has held the following posts in FUTO:

Deputy Director, Centre for Continuing Education, Deputy Director, Institute of Erosion Studies, Director, Institute of Erosion Studies, Departmental Industrial Training Coordinator, Departmental Project Coordinator, Departmental Seminar Coordinator.

He is a member of the following boards: Department of geology board of studies, School of Physical science board of studies, the Postgraduate school board of studies and The University Senate.

He is a member of the following professional bodies Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS), Nigerian Association of Hydrogeologist (NAH) Council of Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG).
