Dr Young Ezenwa Obioha

Dr E. Y. Obioha was born to the family of Late Chief Michael Akpasuo Obioha of Umueke Village Owerre Nkworji in Nkwerre L.G.A. Imo State Nigeria. He attended State School Ofeh 1, Etche Rivers State, where he obtained his First School Leaving certificate in 1975. He did his secondary education at St. Augustine’s Grammar School Nkwerre and obtained his WASSCE/GCE (7 credits at one) sitting in 1980. He read Geology at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) and obtained his First Degree (B.Sc.Tech. Hons.) in 1988. He went into business for a while. In 1997, he gained admission to do his Masters Degree in Petroleum Geology / Exploration Geophysics at the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria and bagged his (M.Sc. Petroleum Geology/Exploration Geophysics in 2001). He joined the services of FUTO the same year as a Federal Government/ FUTO MAP Attachee. In 2005, he was given a tenure-ship appointment having successfully scaled through the interview. He did his PhD program in Petrology/Mineralogy/Geochemistry at the University of Calabar and bagged the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD Degree 2014), of the University of Calabar, under the Supervision of Professor Barth Nwoye Ekwueme.

Dr E. Y. Obioha rose from the rank of an Assistant Lecturer – Feb. 2005; to a lecturer II – 1^st. October 2008; to lecturer III – 1^st. October 2011; to Senior lecturer – 2015.  He is qualified, due and currently being appraised for promotion to the rank of a Reader (Associate Professor of Geology).  With Specialization in Petrology, Mineralogy, Geochemistry and Mineral Exploration, he lectures and supervises courses at undergraduate, and graduate including PhD levels. Dr E. Y. Obioha is a member of many learned international/Academic Associations including, MNMGS, NAH, COMEG, YES-Africa, NAPE, GSAf. He is happily married with two children.

His hobbies are reading and exploration.
