Biography

Arc. (Dr.) Mrs Miriam Ijeoma CHUKWUMA-UCHEGBU was born into the family of Charles and Rebbecca Udumukwu of Umudike Abueke in  Ihitte Uboma LGA of Imo State. She is a devote Christian of Anglican denomination who is into the ministry of turning children and teenagers back to God. She attended Federal Government Girls’ College, Bauchi for her Secondary Education and proceeded to Abia State University, Uturu, Nigeria where she bagged her BSc and MSc Degrees in Architecture in 1993 and 1996 respectively. Inquest for more knowledge, she proceeded to Imo State University, Owerri, Nigeria where she acquired her PhD in Architecture in 2016.

Arc. (Dr.) Mrs Miriam Ijeoma CHUKWUMA-UCHEGBU has many years of work experience in the teaching profession, construction practice and administrative appointments in Architecture. Federal Polytechnic Nekede 2017 – 2019; Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State, 2019 till date. She has held the post of Assistant Honorary Secretary, Nigerian Institute of Architects, Imo State Chapter (2008 -2014).

Her major awards include,

  • State Honours Award for excellent Service NYSC Delta State (1997/98 Service year)
  • Best in Academic performance 1983/84 Academic session, Federal Government Girls’ College Bauchi
  • Best in Academic performance 1984/85 Academic session, Federal Government Girls’ College Bauchi
  • Best in Academic performance 1985/86 Academic session, Federal Government Girls’ College Bauchi
  • She is a member of the Nigerian institute of architects (NIA), Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Association of Architectural Educators in Nigeria (AARCHES), and member of Association for Promoting Nigerian Languages (MAPNILAC).

Arc. (Dr.) Mrs Miriam is happily married to Sir Chukwuma Ephraim Uchegbu of Eze Uchegbu’s compound, Umuachamuzo  Umuedo Obohia in Ahiazu  Mbaise LGA Imo State. They are blessed with wonderful children.
