- Project Initiation, Planning, Design, Supervision and Monitoring of Capital Projects in the University.
- Supervision of activities of External Consultants and Contractors.
- Project report writing, valuations and cost monitoring.
- Represent the University on technical issues and capital projects.

Architectural Section
Functions of the Section
- Generally, to regulate the practice of architecture in the university such that it conforms to the national and international standards and requirements.
- Stands as the client’s representative in all matters that pertain to architecture between the university and consultants, contractors, individuals, and government.
- The section plays a key role in the review of sketch/preliminary design as presented by external consultants.
- Resident supervision of on-going projects in the University.
- Initiating design and production of drawings for new projects (in-house).
- Liaison and co-ordination with other professionals in the Unit to achieve successful project delivery.
Responsibilities of Sectional Head
- Co-ordinates and assigns roles to subordinates
- Checks, vets and endorses/approves design productions
- Organizes meetings and site inspections for projects especially the ones which external consultants are not involved.
- Advises the Unit Director and the University Management on issues related to Architecture.
- Oversees the day to day and indeed all the functions of the Architectural Section.

Functions of the Section
Electrical Services
- Electrical section supervises a variety of electrical service projects, wiring, lighting and lightening protections system in buildings within the University.
- Electrical section rely on Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems for the creation of schematics and to layout circuits and they use computers to stimulate how electrical devices & systems will function.
- Preparing reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
- Finally maintaining products and University reputation by complying with Federal and State regulations.
- Designing layouts using computer aided design software.
Mechanical Services
Responsibilities of Sectional Head
- Sectional head are responsible for internal and internal management specialist and organizational tasks in mechanical and electrical sections, integrated within the strategic development of the University.
- Authorized to issue instruction and make decisions with regard to their tasks.
- Regular reviewing and optimization of the processes in own area of responsibility and cross functional interface.
- Representing the interest of the area of responsibility externally of necessary in consultation with the next highest hierarchical level.

Functions of the Section
- Preparing Estimate, Bills of Quantities, Schedules of materials/Labour for the construction of building & other projects.
- Analyzing construction costs.
- Undertaking general contract administration.
- Measuring sites and locations.
- Carrying out administrations for interim or final certificates and settlement of account.
- Preparing forum for capital estimates and expenditure return as required by National Universities Commission or other funding agencies.
- Supervising and coordinating the activities of staff in lower grades in the unit.

Functions of the Section
- To provide qualitative and professional advice to the Vice-Chancellor and Management on all matters relating to town planning services as they affect the Physical Planning and Development of the University through the Director.
- To carry out site selection and location services for all projects and land uses using the University Master Plan.
- To vet the location and site plans of development projects.
- Control of land use development using the University master plan as to ensure strict adherence to the preconceived Master Plan of the University.
- Vet all periodical review of the University Master Plan as appropriate.

Functions of the Section
- Design of civil and structural engineering works
- Supervision of all civil/ structural engineering works
- Preparation of bill of engineering measurement and evaluation (BEME)
- Attending site meetings and inspection of on-going projects.
