Prof. O. O. Emenalom hails from Umuonyeukwu Autonomous Community in Ikeduru, Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. He obtained his B. Agric. Tech. (Animal Production) degree in 1992, M.Sc. (Animal Nutrition) in 1997 and PhD (Animal Nutrition) in 2002 all from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. He joined the services of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri as an Assistant Lecturer in 1998 and rose to the rank of a Professor in 2013. Primarily he is a Scientist by training and practice, and teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Animal Nutrition and livestock Production Systems. He was a visiting Scholar at the Cross River University Technology (CRUTECH)-Nigeria in the year 2009-2010.
He was the Head, Department of Animal Science and Technology from July 2012 – June 2015. He is a Register Animal Scientist and a member of many professional bodies. He has attended many national and international conferences and workshops. He has successfully supervised well over forty B. Agric. Tech. Research Projects, four M.Sc. and three PhD Thesis, respectively.
His most recent significant research work has been on processing and use of velvet bean (Mucuna pruriens) and Christmas bush (Alchornea cordifolia) seeds in monogastric diets. In this area of work, he has more than 25 peer-reviewed publications. He has well over 60 publications to his credit.
Prof. Emenalom is currently the Director, Peasant Sustainable Farm Initiative (PSFI) a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), a Board member, Crown Feeds and Livestock (CFL) Limited/ Crown Hatchery Enterprises (CHE), Issele-Uku, Delta State and a community leader. He is happily married to Mrs. Kate Emenalom and the marriage is blessed with 4 children.
