The newly established Africa Centre of Excellence in Future Energies and Electrochemical Systems (ACE-FUELS) hosted by the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria, under the World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence (ACE) Impact project, invites suitably qualified National, Regional and International applicants into its MSc and PhD degree programs.  ACE-FUELS is established to fill a growing education, skills and information gap in the field of clean energy and other high-tech applications (surface and interfacial phenomena and advanced materials) within the sub-region, through training, research, development, innovation and technology transfer.

ACE-FUELS is seeking aspiring Africa students who are sufficiently motivated to work in an international and multidisciplinary environment, with state-of-the-art teaching, learning and research facilities that promote high calibre research & development, knowledge sharing & dissemination, technical skills & capacity development, research translation & commercialization and development of scientific leadership.

ACE-FUELS has forged cooperation with broad-based national, regional and international knowledge networks to evolve novel technologies and approaches, which optimally engage local and regional scientific talents, while linking global expertise, to provide an enduring training experience that is both robust and rigorous in order to effectively achieve the Center’s goals of:

  • Developing a critical mass of well-trained researchers to meet the requirement of R&D professionals for clean energy and related high technology applications.
  • Initiating and supporting high-end research to extend knowledge beyond the existing practice in the industry.
  • Promoting local content in research and innovations by initiating necessary value-driven industry-academia collaborations.
  • Partnering with local content industry initiatives within the region to help develop competencies by providing bespoke work-based learning events, activities and tools in line with global best practices.
