Engineer Professor Godfrey Iheanyi Nwandikom, professor of Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering is recently appointed the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, DVC (Acad), by Senate of Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering, (B.Eng) with Honours from University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Masters of Engineering (M.Eng) from Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU) Zaria, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Farm Power and Machinery Option of Agricultural Engineering from Federal University of
Technology, Owerri (FUTO).
He joined the University as Lecturer II and rose to the rank of professor with time. He has worked in the university for over thirty years during which he served her in various capacities.
His first appointed position in FUTO, a year after recruitment, was Examination Officer of the department. While in this position, he supervised:
- Processing of examination question papers
- Conduct of examination and
- Collation and computation of results. He held this office for over eight years.
He later served as Head of then Agricultural Engineering Department for six years continuously. Dean of School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET) and Chairman, Committee of Deans in FUTO.
His research interest is in the area of Physical Properties of Agricultural Product and their applications in processing of Biomaterials. He is a fellow of Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers, (FNIAE), Member, Nigeria Society of Engineers (MNSE), Member, American Society of Agricultural and Bioresources Engineer (MASABE), Member, International Soil Tillage Research Organisation (MISTRO), Member Agricultural Society of Nigeria (MASN), Registered member, Council of Regulation of Engineering in Nigerian (COREN) etc.
He also have served as Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, Associate Dean of SEET, Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Director, Office of University Development (OUD), Director of Centre for Industrial Studies (CIS) and Senate Representative in 11th Governing Council of FUTO. Professor G. I. Nwandikom by divine providence, was the 10th Dean of SEET, 10th Diretor of CIS and now 10th DVC (Academic).
