Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) is the foremost University of Technology in Nigeria established in 1981 to advance Technology and Innovation in the country to the benefit of our globalized world. In the last three decades, this university has produced top captains of industries, politicians and technocrats who ply their trade within and outside Nigeria. Here in FUTO, we are known for blazing the trail of Technological and Entrepreneurial innovations.

At FUTO, we strongly believe in collective participation of parents, members of family and good friends together with our seasoned faculty and staff in training our students to succeed in their life endeavors. Valuable and continued contributions and supports from parents are always   appreciated as they are seen as partners in success journey of our cherished and well valued students.

Student Affairs Unit (SAU) under the Office of the Vice-Chancellor (OVC), has several sections to assist our student have lovely out-of-classroom learning, personal development and success. These sections can help our student enjoy a lot of extra-curriculum activities to balance student’s life and ease off academic stress. These sections include; Guidance and Counseling, Scholarship, Sports, NYSC mobilization, Hostel Accommodation and Student’s Welfare. We have dedicated and trained professional with passion to assist our students in developing to their full potential. They guide students to succeed in and out of classroom and contribute to the larger society.

The current Dean, Student Affairs Unit (SAU), Professor Chikwendu Emenike Orji is ably assisted by Engr. Dr. Ugochukwu Ilozurike Duru as Associate Dean while the School Administrative Officer (SAO) and Ag. Coordinator, SAU, Mr. Martin O. Azubike assists the Dean SAU, in administrative aspect of the unit. The University Hostels under the unit are headed by Hall Administrators to achieve global organizational standards for students’ hall of residence.

Presently, a total of 121 members of staff work with the Hall Administrators at the University Hostels to ensure that our students comply to set out rules and regulation, student conducts and at the same time monitor their activities in their Halls of residence on Campus. Security and welfare of our students residing at University Hostels are paramount in daily activities of this Unit. Trained Doctors, Nurses and other health worker are at the University Clinic to attend to health challenges of our students.
