Biography

Mr Michael Akaninyene OKON is a native of Ikot-Ukam, Obot-Akara Local Government Area of Akwa State. He had his first and second degrees from the Department of Soil Science and Technology, FUTO. His M.Sc. research was in the area of Soil Physics and Water Relations. Mr Okon is currently pursuing his PhD in the Department of Soil Science and Meteorology, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State.

His area of research is Soil Physics and water relations.

Work Experience

Mr Okon has experienced up to 10 years of lecturing. He serves as one of the internal examiners in the Department and has supervised and graduated many undergraduate students.

Research Interest

Soil physics and conservation, Soil water relations, modelling and simulation, climate change, greenhouse gas monitoring and modelling from soils and investigation of agronomic practices leading to reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and carbon sequestration.
