Biography

A Technologist in public Health Microbiology and an Environmentalist with over 15 years’ experience in a wide variety of laboratory and field techniques, responsible for the day to day operations and maintenance of laboratory equipment used to perform tests, record test results and maintain highly accurate records for research, prevent, track, control and prevent tropical diseases, monitor environmental issues especially pollution, solid waste and energy, a specialist devoted to the implementation of existing technology in microbiology, Public health and the environment with publications in research journals.

  • Data Manager/research assistant: Assessment of Hypertension and Practice of Doctors and Health workers in the Local Governments.  A Part of the project that seeks to learn more on the prevention of Hypertension in the Rural Communities, An IT Community work Experience Organized by CHIDICON.

    • Preparation of media, specimens, samples and reagents for use in performing bacteriological and chemical tests, ensuring effective use of resources

    • Serving  in Departmental committees, respecting and promoting cultural differences
    • Conducting different microbiological tests/methods and interpretation of results for accurate identification of agents.
    • Designing and convening Laboratory modules, and providing supervisory support to students writing dissertations

Research interest

  • Environmental Microbiology: Focusing on the influence of the environment on human health and controlling such influences through prevention and intervention strategies, predicting and manipulating microbial community with a goal towards protecting and sustaining human and environmental health.
  • Public Health Microbiology: Investigating areas of health systems and evaluation of health programs/interventions.  Disease-specific research, mainly on Malaria and HIV/AIDS, designing, conducting and analysing surveys. Current research is on Public Health Impact and Risk Factors Associated with Uterine Leiomyomata among Women in Imo State, Nigeria.
