Biography

Engr. R.E. Okeke was born on 27th February, to Mr Chieme and Mrs Ilommadu Okeke of the heroic Egboka family of Isiokwe-Otu Aguleri, Anambra East LGA, Anambra State. He attended Central School Enugu-Otu Aguleri from 1972-1977, Joseph Memorial High School Aguleri from 1977-1982. He proceeded to the University of Nigeria Nsukka where he studied Electrical Engineering on Shell Scholarship from 1985-1990 and graduated with 2nd Class Upper Division for his B.Eng. Hons degree in 1990. He did his mandatory NYSC program at the Delta Steel Company, Ovwian-Aladja in the then Bendel State from 1990-1991. His careers have spanned through the years in both private and public sectors as follows;

  • Site Engineer at GCK Enterprises Ltd (Shell Contractor)   –  1991-1992
  • Resident Consultant at Novomat Engineering Associates on Federal Secretariat Project Owerri   –   1992-1994               
  • Project Manager at Jarah Electrical Engineers and Contractors (Special Housing Units)  – 1995-1997
  • Senior Consultant at Agima Foundation Ltd on PTF Projects, National Rural Electrification Programme  –  1997-2002
  • Principal Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer (Electrical) and now Ag. Director at the PP&D Unit, FUTO.  –   2002-Date     

Engr. R.E. Okeke also holds an M.Eng Degree from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. He is COREN-Reg. Engineer, Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Member, Nigerian Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Fellow, Institute of Corporate Administration.  He has also carried out research on lighting with an emphasis on contemporary lighting standards.  He presented a paper titled “Towards Indigenous Lighting Standards in Nigeria” in 2013 Annual Conference of Nigerian Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers” held in Onitsha, Anambra State.
